About Dr AAP
Dr. Aaron Akpu Philip is a Public Health Practitioner with more than a decade of experience researching, working, and volunteering in the development and not-for-profit settings in Nigeria, the United Kingdom, and Australia. He is also a professional and celebrated master of ceremonies.
Aaron is a postdoctoral research fellow at Australian Red Cross Lifeblood, an organization that has been delivering one of the world’s safest supplies of blood and blood products for more than 90 years as well as world-class research and expertise. At Lifeblood, Aaron works within the Donor Research team to conduct research on sexual health and diversity projects in relation to the donation of blood and other blood products. He also serves as a visiting fellow at Queensland University of Technology (QUT) where he contributes to the university through research and guest lectures.
Dr AAP has worked with vulnerable and priority groups in Nigeria (orphans and vulnerable children, injecting drug users, persons with disabilities, and sex workers) as well as with the Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic (BAME) community in the UK.
In Aaron's quest for impact, he uses his personal stories to inspire young people toward personal and professional growth. He writes on development issues that premise on health, infectious diseases, disability inclusion, human rights, and governance.
Aaron holds a PhD in Public Health from QUT, Australia, an M.Sc. in Public Health-Health Promotion from Leeds Beckett University, United Kingdom, and a Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology from Nasarawa State University, Keffi, Nigeria.
