IMPACT MAKERS 2020 CONFERENCE

AAP’s virtual presentation at the Impact Makers 2020

The School of Public Health and Social Work organised the Impact Makers 2020 conference on November 11th 2020. The conference, which was the first of its kind in the school, was meticulously designed to provide a platform for Higher Degree by Research (HDR) students to showcase their research, collaborate and learn from the important research of other HDRs.

In addition to the presentations, the International conference also featured two important panels:

1. Mastering the Art of Publishing (Featuring Assoc. Prof. Nektarios Karanikas, Dr. John Cauchi, Prof. Adrian Barnett).

2. Ethical issues in Health Research (featuring Prof. Hilary Bambrick. Prof. Mark Brough, Assoc. Prof. Yvette Miller).

The panels featured renowned academics within the school who shared their experience and provided clarity to HDRs regarding these important topics.

I am humbled to have participated in this conference in the following ways:

1. Chaired the Scientific Committee that designed, planned and implemented this International Conference. Special thanks to the committee members who sacrificed their time and knowledge to plan this. Thanks Asif, Nadirah, Laavanya, Sameera, Anjana, Suwanit. Massive thanks to Dr. Sanjeewa and Dr. Naomi, who provided the committee with guidance and mentorship.

2. I presented my novel research, “Adherence to Antiretroviral Therapy (ART) among Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) living with Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) in Nigeria.

3. Worked with the Webtech team on the Conference day to ensure the smooth virtual process of the conference (picture shows the hardworking Webtech team in action). This conference boasts of being an International Conference because of the diversity of research and presenters drawn from Nigeria, Australia, China, Malaysia, Malta, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Vietnam.
