It was clear I wanted to be a development worker because I had attended the NACWYCA summer youth camp while in High school and had a taste of being a peer educator. I knew not that I will some time in the future become a Peer Educator Trainer (PET).

October 2014 was when I took the revamping decision that was going to change my life forever.

My friend and brother Barnie encouraged me to take an abrupt trip to Ikorodu, Lagos State where I lived to volunteer for 3 months alongside other volunteers from the UK.

This was to become the best decision of my life as I did not know it was going to speed up my growth in the development sector.

VSO ICS provided that platform for me and although I spent just 3 months in Ikorodu working with young people around diverse developmental issues, I came away with more than a year’s work experience (VSO Alumni can relate to this)

I can write a whole dissertation on my experience but I will allow the pictures to speak for themselves.

Do you have a passion for personal, community, and international development? Do you want to be a development worker like me? Do you want to NOT get paid but remain smiling while giving back to the world? Do you want to gain an equivalent of over a year’s work experience in under 3 months (Sounds impossible huh? so I thought too).

Because of VSO ICS I am still a volunteer.
