It was great to be back in class this week as a QUT (Queensland University of Technology) Sessional academic, where I will be supporting students’ learning journey on the contemporary human rights course coordinated by my supervisor Dr. Julie Anne King.

Drawing from my experience as a Community Development Worker and researcher in the fields of HIV and disability, I will be sharing with the students my ideas and thoughts on the human rights violations in these fields. Being a structured course with many interesting topics, I am also excited that I will be learning from students who come from a broad range of fields and expertise.

Working as a sessional academic allows me to hone my teaching skills within the higher education sector, a skill that is transferrable to other contexts.

Special thanks to my supervisor for always providing me with the platform to contribute and learn while on this PhD journey.

I look forward to the coming weeks of teaching and learning.
